Welcome to the Old Dominion Association of Church Schools! Since 1976, ODACS has been providing valuable services and activities to Christian schools operating in Virginia as ministries of independent Baptist churches.
For more than 180 years since the founding of the United States, and throughout American colonial times, instruction in the Bible and in the Christian faith was common in classrooms at all grade levels, including in American public schools. Such instruction was not un-Constitutional, nor was it made to be so by Constitutional amendment, but rather by judicial activism. In the late 1960's and throughout the 1970's, the Christian school movement grew in response to the removal of prayer and Bible reading from the classrooms of government-run schools. Christian educators are dedicated to maintaining American classrooms in which eternal truth is still central to the curriculum.
